USA vs. Paraguay - FanDuel Customer Special
USA to Record 1+ Total Shots (+101 at FanDuel)
I am simply too emotionally invested in the United States opener against Paraguay to pretend I can view the actual game with any sort of clear betting lens. Fortunately, FanDuel is offering a customer special that removes the need to make a real pick on the match.
The boosted offer is for the USA to record at least one total shot at +101, up from an original price of -10000. Barring something truly unprecedented, the U.S. will register a shot at some point during the match. At plus money, this is the easiest recommendation on the board.
This is a promotional market, so availability and maximum wager may vary by account. If the special appears in your FanDuel account, take the free square and enjoy the game without trying to handicap the U.S. through the nerves.
Canada vs. Bosnia and Herzegovina - Under 2.5 Goals
Canada/Bosnia Under 2.5 Goals (-160 at DraftKings)
Outside of the FanDuel special, the best angle on the board is in the early game between Canada and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Canada are the rightful favorites playing at home, but I do not think this is a game that sets up for fireworks. Their recent form has been more solid than explosive, with just 11 goals scored across their last 10 games. They have enough talent to win this match, but they are not exactly rolling into the tournament as a free-flowing attacking machine. Add in the possibility that Alphonso Davies is limited or unavailable, and it becomes even harder to see Canada consistently pulling Bosnia apart.
Bosnia’s recent scoring numbers look stronger on the surface, but there is some schedule context baked in there. Six goals against San Marino and four against Malta do a lot of heavy lifting. Against better competition, they have been much more likely to play tight, narrow games. Their last five matches all stayed under 2.5 goals, and that feels more representative of what this matchup should look like.
This is a World Cup opener for both teams, with Canada carrying the pressure of playing at home and Bosnia likely happy to make the game uncomfortable. Canada can win it, but I expect a tense, cautious match where one goal may be enough and two goals might be plenty.
If you do not like the -160 odds, consider parlaying the under with Canada double chance (win or draw), which gets the price closer to an even -110.
